Water and waste management expert witness with more than 20 years’ 
experience of leading environmental consultancy and waste management
companies and leading award winning environmental management and
sustainable development programmes.  
 
David has completed numerous expert witness reports and attended court in
both civil and criminal cases.  
 
David provides expert witness reports on waste management matters, including 
environmental permit and waste duty of care breaches.  He provides statutory 
technical competence function for a number of waste management companies.  
He has obtained environmental permits for a diverse range of clients across a 
number of sectors. 
This work has typically included environmental impact studies and land
contamination assessments. 
It has also included obtaining road haulage operating licences from the Traffic 
Commissioner and planning permissions from various planning authorities. 
David provides expert witness reports on water pollution control matters 
including environmental permit breaches.
Several cases have involved his review of the design and operation of drainage and water treatment infrastructure to identify design and operational faults. 
A recent case included his inspection of a sewerage infrastructure scheme 
which demonstrated that both faulty design and construction practices 
contributed to sewage treatment failures. 
 
Several of his expert witness cases have involved consideration of the adequacy (or
contributory negligence to given breaches of environmental and/or public health law 
and or environmental harm and associated human health impacts. 
 
His expert witness case work has enabled clients to successfully defend against the 
Environment Agency’s threat of waste and/or water management prosecutions.  In a 
recent civil case his review of a crown dependency’s environmental management 
practices enabled an international chemical company to successfully defend a large 
pollution damages claim (+ £27 million).
