Manny Silverman has spent his entire career in the clothing industry, both retail and manufacturing, and has had long and considerable experience in most aspects of the business.
He joined Moss Bros as an apprentice tailor and having spent 10 years in manufacturing, he was given a number of opportunities to progress within the company and held a number of senior positions in the group eventually becoming Chief Executive from 1980 to 1987. He then became a shareholder and Executive Chairman of Norman Hartnell Ltd, the Royal Couturiers to H M The Queen and H M The Queen Mother.
He is a former council member of the Academy of Experts and acted as an expert witness in both civil and criminal proceedings since 1995, and is recognised as a leading practitioner in the sector, his extensive experience and ongoing involvement in the industry has enabled him to produce reports and give evidence, including a number of high court actions, on a whole range of matters relating to the sector.
Among the many of the issues related to the retail/fashion/accessory sectors in which he has acted as an expert include, trading disputes, design infringement, branding, licensing, marketing, purchasing, manufacturing, quality issues, merchandising, UK and Community unregistered design/copyright infringement, counterfeiting, retail property related matters.
