Martin is a chartered member of the Investment and Securities Institute and has qualifications in financial derivatives and investment management. Martin holds current FCA authorisation and the Cardiff University Law School/Bond Solon Civil Expert Witness Certificate (CUBS). He is a registered expert with the NCA and is fully conversant with the requirements of CPR. He has wide experience of court procedure and cross-examination having acted as an expert many times.

Martin has worked as a banker for international banks providing financial and investment advice to both onshore and offshore clients. He is as an expert on derivatives, structured products and other complex investments.

Martin is a guest lecturer at the University of Reading in Financial Regulation. He also teaches on the MBA Financial Markets course at Manchester Business School and is the tutor for the University of London Global MBA financial law modules. He also taught at Central Law Training on financial mis-selling. He is the author of several academic articles on finance related matters and was awarded a distinction in his LLM in International Financial Regulation, and his thesis focused on financial advice and suitability.

Martin was named as the derivatives and financial services expert of the year by Lawyer Weekly in 2016 and has extensive experience of acting for claimants, defendants and as a single joint expert in matters relating to banking and financial services in litigation and mediations. He has also acted in a number of financial crime cases including the widely reported Operation Filtermill.
