Mr Surash is a Consultant Neurosurgeon at the RVI, Newcastle, and has been in post since 2011. He has completed his LLM in medical law at Northumbria University and achieved an LLM with commendation. His dissertation was on gross negligence manslaughter and the Bawa-Garba case. He has also completed an expert witness masterclass held by the Royal Society of Medicine and BPP Law School London.

He is widely published and presented internationally. He also has an extensive research base working with groups nationally and internationally.
