A Registered General Nurse qualified in 2005, with over 25 years healthcare experience in medicine, surgery, community nursing, chronic illness, pain, oncology, wound care, stoma care, mental health and palliative care.
I have experience of managing care and rehabilitation for patients with a range of traumatic injuries.
I was a member of the Infected Blood Inquiry Response Expert Group, providing advice to Government on the care compensation scheme. I was a panel member of the National Nurse Consultant Group for Palliative Care and contributing author to the NHS guidelines on Guidance to Staff Responsible for Care After Death.
As an expert witness, I have prepared numerous reports in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland for the Court including loss of service, aids and equipment and/or care requirements, breach of duty and specialist nursing.
Further to nursing qualifications and experience I have undertaken medico legal training and am aware of my responsibilities as an expert witness under the Civil Procedure Rules.
I have experience in liaising with the legal team and understanding of the medico-legal litigation process. I have participated within numerous case conferences with Counsel, expert meetings, and joint discussions and have given evidence at court.
As a clinical case manager, I have facilitated the provision of effective rehabilitation programmes via the commissioning of appropriate clinicians, recruitment of support workers and equipment procurement according to the client’s individual circumstances.
I have been successful in empowering clients to become more independent and achieve their own specific goals.
I have undertaken significant case management work supporting people who have sustained neurological injury and arranged associated neurological therapy programmes to maximise rehabilitational potential and promote independence and improve quality of life.
I also work as a mentor for other case managers.
I was first Traumatic Brain Injury Case Manager in the case of Hadley v Przybylo which won Personal Injury Case of the Year at the Annual Personal Injury Awards in 2024. I attend regular training courses for ongoing professional development.
