I am a consultant in geriatric and general internal medicine with a specialist interest in cardiology for the older person. Working on a multi-disciplinary Older Persons Admission Unit makes me particularly well positioned to accept instruction related to the emergency hospitalisation of elderly and frail patients.
I also work on the medical take, involving all medical specialties including the management of sepsis. I have experience in high care settings, including coronary care unit, respiratory high care and a medical high dependency unit.
In cardiology I look after elderly and frail patients with aortic stenosis, valvular heart disease and heart failure, in particular making decisions about the appropriateness of TAVI.
I am a College Tutor with the Royal College of Physicians, leading Internal Medical Training in my trust.
