Dr Charles Shaw-Smith is a Clinical Geneticist with twenty years’ experience at Consultant level. He is based at the Peninsula Regional Clinical Genetics Services in Exeter.
Dr Shaw-Smith provides NHS clinics throughout the Peninsula Region (Devon and Cornwall), seeing patients with personal or family histories of conditions within cardiac genetics, renal genetics and neurogenetics; and children with developmental delay or congenital malformations.
Dr Shaw-Smith is not active in the field of cancer genetics.

Clinical genetics, especially: • Connective tissue disorders, including Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, Marfan syndrome, osteogenesis imperfecta • Chromosome disorders • Congenital malformation syndromes • I have received training in medico-legal report writing from Bond Solon • More than 100 reports completed to date, all within deadline and budget • Academic clinical geneticist with around 50 research papers mainly on genetics of congenital malformation syndromes.
