Maria has a strong interest in Forensic Medicine and is experienced in a broad range of disciplines within urgent care practice. Urgent care medical specialist. She is registered with the Irish Medical Council and the General Medical Council

Current practice: Her current work in urgent care practice involves the assessment and treatment of acute and non-acute medical conditions and some general practice work.

Maria is also involved in the training and supervision of Fellowship students on site, and runs the resuscitation clinical skills drills. She is also involved in regular in-house training and participates in clinical audit.

Relevant medicolegal experience and skills: 

Personal Injury: Completion of a large number of medical examinations reports for the Personal Injuries Assessment Board.

Negligence:  Maria has been involved in Clinical Governance committees and clinical lead positions in former posts and has managed clinical complaints for the group.

Teaching / Training: As a specialist in urgent care medicine and General Practitioner, Maria also holds teaching positions.

Capacity Assessments (a court appointed position).

Part time tutor in University College Cork medical school.

Teaching of Fellowship Urgent care medicine candidates RCSI.

Maria can act as an Expert Witness in England and Ireland. Maria is happy to be contacted for brief advisory reports, and can give expert testimony by video link for trial also.

Maria understands her duties to the court and is CPR part 35 compliant. In 2025 she completed an Expert Witness masterclass training given by the newly established Irish Expert Witness training company.

Expertise in urgent care medicine in paediatric, adult and elderly populations.

Soft tissue injury, minor orthopaedic trauma and fractures, wounds and lacerations, respiratory medicine , cardiac primary care, infectious disease, musculoskeletal medicine presentations, general primary care illness, personal injury assessments post trauma.
