I have a broad clinical practice in a busy teaching hospital.

Subspeciality areas: obstetric anaesthesia, neuro-anaesthesia, anaesthesia for orthopaedic surgery, pre-operative assessment.

I am a Medical Examiner, providing scrutiny of in-hospital deaths. A wide clinical and academic knowledge underpins delivery of lucid and literate reports.

Recent reports have covered anaesthesia, peri-operative management and critical care issues:

• Caesarean section – intra-operative pain/awareness.
• Major obstetric haemorrhage/amniotic fluid embolism/maternal death.
• Pre-eclampsia/eclampsia.
• Nerve injuries after peripheral nerve/plexus blocks.

• Anaphylaxis: cardiac arrest.
• Post-spinal headache/epidural blood patch.
• Neurological complications (arachnoiditis, cerebral venous sinus thrombosis) after anaesthesia.
• Delayed anaesthesia for Caesarean section: neonatal hypoxia.

Training: Comprehensive training in clinical and academic anaesthesia (Aberdeen, Sheffield and Nottingham). LLM (with distinction) Nottingham Trent University.
