Mr Nikolaos Giotakis is a fully qualified Consultant Orthopaedic & Trauma Surgeon, working at the Liverpool University Hospitals Foundation Trust. He has been heavily involved in Complex Trauma and Limb Reconstruction Surgery since 2004.

Subspecialty interest:

Complex Trauma and Limb Reconstruction Surgery.
Acute Trauma Practice: Complex trauma including patients with multiple injuries. Areas of special interest include open fractures, complex lower limb injuries including limb threatening injuries.
Elective Orthopaedic Practice: Limb Reconstruction Surgery typically: non unions (fractures that fail to heal), malunions and other deformities, fracture related infection – osteomyelitis, joint contractures, post-traumatic arthritis.
Mr Giotakis regularly receives acute complex trauma and elective tertiary referrals from hospitals in Merseyside, Lancashire, Cumbria, the Isle of Man, North Wales.

Faculty in National and International events. Has published several peer reviewed articles in Trauma and Limb Reconstruction Surgery.
He has been a journal reviewer and editorial board of peer reviewed journals in the field of orthopaedic trauma and limb reconstruction. He is a former executive committee member of the British Limb reconstruction Society (BLRS).
Honorary Lecturer University of Liverpool.
Experienced medicolegal expert witness in trauma and limb reconstruction surgery since 2006.

Mr Giotakis provides reports on personal injury, including complex and serious injuries. As a result of his clinical practice dealing regularly with complications of trauma, he is very well placed on providing opinion on medical negligence cases relating to orthopaedic trauma management and its complications as well as other aspects of limb reconstruction surgery.
