Holds the Civil Expert Witness Certificate (Cardiff University/Bond Solon), a member of the UK Expert Witness Institute, a member of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS, 2023–2024), and a member of the expert panel evaluating claimants under the Higher Value Claim Pathway in the Hillsborough Victims’ Misfeasance Litigation.
Dr Nayrouz has over 20 years’ experience as an expert witness in civil, criminal, family, and employment proceedings, providing written and oral evidence to Courts and Tribunals since 2005. He accepts instructions from claimants, defendants, prosecution, and the courts, including appointments as a Single Joint Expert.
Civil Proceedings
Regularly prepares condition and prognosis reports in cases involving psychological injury, including post-traumatic stress, depressive and anxiety disorders arising from trauma, abuse, accidents, violent crime, torture, fires, war, explosions, and medical negligence. He also undertakes assessments for the UK Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA), the Centre for Health and Disability Assessments, UK Veterans, and the Department for Work and Pensions.
Criminal Proceedings
Provides expert psychiatric opinions in relation to defendants with actual or suspected mental disorder, including assessments of fitness to plead and stand trial, mens rea, mental state at the time of the alleged offence(s), disposal recommendations, and vulnerability.
Employment Tribunals
Prepares expert reports (including as Single Joint Expert) in cases involving alleged psychiatric injury arising from workplace discrimination, bullying, harassment, and unfair dismissal on mental health grounds. Familiar with the requirements of the Equality Act 2010.
Family Proceedings
Provides expert reports in child custody and care proceedings involving parental mental health difficulties, including work with local authorities. Also undertakes mental capacity assessments in adults with suspected mental disorder.
Expert Witness Training
Extensive medico-legal training, Bond Solon courses in Excellence in Report Writing, Courtroom Skills, Cross-Examination, and Civil Law & Procedure (England and Wales).
