Forensic child and adolescent psychiatry. (FCAMHS) I am fully accredited in forensic work with children and young people. My particular area of special expertise is in assessment of young people associated with homicide, especially (but not only) within the family.
I have a great deal of experience as an expert witness in written and oral evidence in many such cases over many years.
I also have a great deal of experience in expert work with young people involved with other serious offending. I accept instructions relating to fitness to plead, mental health and dangerousness assessments in this population.
I am regularly instructed by both Defence and CPS in these cases.
I accept personal injury instructions relating to young people. I do not normally accept instructions on family law cases or medical negligence. Apart from having been an NHS inpatient forensic CAMHS consultant for years,
I have been Clinical Director for children’s’ mental health services in two large NHS Trusts. I have also had seven years experience as a psychiatric member of the Parole Board.
Personal injury work only where the client can be seen in the North East of England. Other expert work on more serious forensic matters can be undertaken nationally if needed.
Areas covered:
Forensic psychiatry.
Forensic adolescent psychiatry.
