I qualified from Brighton and Sussex Medical School in 2009. I trained across the southwest between 2009-2019, specialising in Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine, attaining Fellowship to the Royal College of Anaesthetists in 2016.

I gained the Certificate of Completion of Training in 2019. My Pain Medicine training involves years of experience mainly working in Plymouth, Exeter, and Torbay, with specialty visits to Bristol and Southampton.

I successfully achieved Fellowship to the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Royal College of Anaesthetists in 2021. In 2022 I attained a Postgraduate Certificate in Healthcare Management, Leadership, and Innovation from Plymouth University, and the Cardiff University Bond Solon (CUBS) civil certificate.

NHS Consultant appointments: I achieved Consultancy in 2019 and am a substantive Consultant in Pain Medicine and Anaesthesia at University Hospitals Plymouth; a tertiary referral centre for pain and other surgical specialties, and a major trauma centre (2020-current).

Expert Witness Training: I have been preparing civil expert evidence for the Court since 2022 and I typically prepare between two and three expert reports each month.

I am a university-certified expert witness, having achieved the Cardiff University Bond Solon (CUBS) civil certificate in 2022. This includes excellence in report writing, courtroom skills, cross-examination, and civil law and procedure.

I hold full membership to the Expert Witness Institute. I am listed on the expert witness directory, the national register of expert witnesses, and the national expert witness agency.

I undertake monthly continual professional development updates, including attending the Pain Expert 9th annual two-day conference in November 2024.

I have weekly responsibilities assisting and leading an In-Patient Pain Team and delivering anaesthesia and peri-operative care for patients.

Special interests:

My specialist areas of interest in pain medicine are neuropathic pain including complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), traumatic injury including whiplash, chronic pain after surgery, widespread pain including fibromyalgia, cancer pain and neuromodulation, the links between acute and chronic pain, chronic abdominal pain, and education.

My specialist anaesthetic interests are in regional and neuro-anaesthesia, transfer, and pre-hospital medicine.

I am an honorary senior lecturer for the University of Plymouth and Peninsula Medical School, delivering multimodal teaching programmes to medical students on a regular basis.
