My main areas of expertise are in Cardiology.
I have completed an accredited training programme in cardiology. I have been on the GMC specialist register as a cardiologist since 2016. I have completed further training programmes in heart failure and advanced heart failure including an international fellowship in cardiac transplantation.
Consequently, I am skilled in all aspects of heart failure management including the identification and management of patients before and after heart transplantation.
I am skilled in the complex assessment and management of patients with shortness of breath including pulmonary hypertension and all forms of complex Cardiomyopathy.
On a day-to-day basis I manage all forms of arrhythmia. Some are life threating requiring immediate attention and others are managed in an outpatient setting.
Some patients experience palpitations and other syncope (collapse). I have completed an accredited training programme in complex pacemaker/cardiac device implantation and management.
This includes the implantation of cardiac resynchronisation therapy devices (CRT) and implantable cardiac defibrillators (ICD). I have passed the American board examinations for pacemaker/cardiac device management leading to accreditation by the international board of heart rhythm examiners (IBHRE – CCDS).
A large part of my work includes the management of chest pain of nay cause but specifically myocardial infarction management and its consequences including heart valve problems.
I am one of only 2 consultants in Merseyside skilled in the complex invasive haemodynamic evaluation of heart function, valve function, Pulmonary hypertension, surgical risk and prediction of post-operative heart support devices.
