Himender Makker is full time Consultant Physician in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine in Private practice in London at the London Clinic and the Circle hospitals in London.

He worked as NHS Consultant in Respiratory Medicine at the University College London Hospital and the North Middlesex University Hospital till July 2024.

He has a special experience in management of lung cancer, sleep disordered breathing and difficult asthma. He managed COVID patients during the pandemic and contributed to the post COVID service.

He conducted research into “Mechanism of exercise induced asthma” for DM at the University of Southampton. He supervised MSc and MD research fellows for projects on mechanisms of neuropsychological impairment in sleep apnoea. He has presented his research at the National and International meetings.

He has published original papers, book chapters and books on lung cancer and sleep apnoea. He has peer reviewed MRC grant applications, project reviews for American Thoracic Society and NICE committee on sleep disordered breathing.

He was appointed honorary Senior Lecturer in Medicine at the UCL and Associated Professor in Medicine at St Georges Undergraduate Medical School (Granada).

He was Director of Research or Development at the NHS trust and received an MBA in Health services management.

He has extensive experience of providing medico-legal reports since 1998 dealing with personal injury, liability and causation.

He has provided reports mainly for claimants as a single expert at request of solicitors, medico-legal agencies such WML, Industrial disease report Limited (Asbestos pleural plaques) and Health Call -Coal miners respiratory disability assessments.

He has given evidence as an expert witness at civil and criminal court justice systems and counsels in various parts of the UK. He is a member of AVMA and NEWA and received training at Expert Witness courses.

He has provides expert medico-legal report for following conditions-Long COVID-Fatigue, Brain fog and breathlessness, Pulmonary Embolism, Lung Cancer, Mesothelioma and asbestos related lung and pleural disease, Sleep apnoea (excessive daytime sleepiness related driving and work-related accidents).
