Areas of Expertise:

I am a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. I have been practising Obstetrics and Gynaecology for over 25 years since my qualification and hold a Master’s Degree in Advanced Gynaecological Endoscopy from the University of Surrey.

I am lead clinician for Minimal Access Gynaecological (keyhole) Surgery. I have introduced new surgical procedures including Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy and Laparoscopic Resection of Endometriosis.

In my role as obstetric Risk Management lead consultant at Dorset County Hospital, I investigate clinical risks and medical malpractice including root cause analysis of serious untoward incidents, and child death reviews.

I have also provided oral evidence in a coroner’s court. I hold the Cardiff University Bond Solon (CUBS) Expert Witness Certificate in Civil Law. I have acted as an expert in civil cases, both defendant and claimant, the family court and the Coroner’s courts.

My turnaround time is 4 weeks for producing a CPR-compliant full medico-legal report. I teach at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists including training doctors in laparoscopic / hysteroscopic skills and emergency obstetrics including instrumental deliveries and shoulder dystocia.

I have presented scientific research papers at both national and international meetings, and have published articles in scientific journals in the field of minimal access surgery.

I specialise in the following areas:

  • Advanced Minimal access surgery  (laparoscopic and hysteroscopic  keyhole surgery)  including laparoscopic hysterectomy, and hysteroscopic resection of fibroids.
  • Endometriosis and pelvic pain, including laparoscopic resection of endometriosis and laparoscopic sterilisation.
  • Antenatal care.
  • Management of labour, childbirth (Caesarean section and instrumental deliveries – ventouse and forceps) and post-partum problems.
  • Acute/emergency gynaecology and early pregnancy (ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage, ovarian cysts, pelvic abscesses etc).
  • Vaginal surgery and abdominal surgery, including abdominal, vaginal hysterectomy, pelvic floor repair, and sacrospinous fixation.
  • Benign gynaecology (heavy menstrual bleeding, fibroids, pelvic pain, abnormal vaginal bleeding).
