Clinically orientated medical microbiologist and hospital infection control doctor, having worked in a large teaching hospital (University Hospital Aintree) and former Public Health Laboratory.
I provided a clinical microbiology service for patients of University Hospital Aintree which has most specialities served by 926 acute beds, the Walton Centre Foundation Trust (for Neurology & Neurosurgery (160 beds) and local General Practitioners.
I was Deputy Director of Infection Prevention and Control for The Walton Centre and also an infection control doctor at University Hospital Aintree.
I undertook a weekly collaborative antibiotic ward round in conjunction with a neurosurgeon and pharmacist reviewing all neurosurgical inpatients on antibiotic treatment.
Hospital acquired infection (including MRSA) and large prosthetic joint infection, severe sepsis and severe community acquired infection.
My interest in neurosurgical and spinal infection follows from working for the Walton Centre for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Liverpool.
