Dr Robert Buist is an experienced Consultant Obstetrician in active clinical practice with Fellowships from both RANZCOG and RCOG (London).
Following training in New Zealand and the UK, he has practiced continuously as a Consultant since 1997. With over 5,000 births performed and medicolegal experience since 2000, Dr. Buist is qualified to provide expert opinions in Australia and the United Kingdom.
Over the course of his career, Dr Buist has held several clinical leadership roles at service, hospital, district, and national levels. A key focus of all those roles has been leading the provision of high-quality maternity (and other health) services.
Areas include:
General Obstetrics, High Risk Obstetrics and maternity care in general.
Adverse pregnancy perinatal (baby) outcomes including chromosomal anomalies, stillbirth, preterm birth, birth asphyxia, birth injuries and cerebral palsy.
Adverse pregnancy maternal outcomes including injuries such as obstetric anal sphincter injuries, perineal injuries and uterine rupture.
Complications of caesarean, ventouse (vacuum) and forceps births.
Maternal sepsis, preeclampsia and gestational diabetes.
