Mr Ashish Gupta is a practising Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon at Epsom and St Helier Hospital, Surrey. He is also departmental lead for colorectal cancer, departmental lead for sepsis/ managing acutely ill patient and Educational and Clinical Supervisor.

He undertakes private work at, Ashtead Hospital & Spire St Anthony Hospital.

Mr Gupta undertakes medico-legal work where he provides honest and expert opinion whilst writing report as an expert.

He has also undertaken many medicolegal courses and has a CUBS certificate (Cardiff University of Bond Solon Certificate in Civil Law). He only takes selective medicolegal work where he genuinely believes he can help The Court with his expertise

Mr Gupta has extensive clinical skills and experience in the following areas:

Open Colorectal: performing a spectrum of operations with excellent outcomes ranging from segmental colonic resections to complex cyto-reductive surgery with intra-operative chemotherapy.

Laparoscopic Colorectal: Mr Gupta’s main area of expertise is in performing laparoscopic bowel surgery, mainly for colorectal cancers, and minimally invasive surgery (TAMIS/TEO) for early rectal cancer.

Proctology: Mr Gupta has performed many operations for haemorrhoids, fistula, fissure in ano and anal condylomata. He is well versed with both open and stapled haemorrhoidectomy as well as Doppler guided haemorrhoidal artery ligation with recto-anal repair.

Emergency Surgery: Mr Gupta has performed many emergency laparotomies including splenectomy for trauma and laparotomies for post-operative complications. He has also performed many appendicectomies, majority of which have been laparoscopic.
