I am a substantive consultant in Critical Care Medicine and Anaesthesia at Royal Cornwall Hospital, and previously held these positions at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.
In addition to my clinical roles, I serve as Deputy Director for the South-West Critical Care Network, where I contribute to peer reviews of critical care units, policy development, clinical governance and chair The South-West transfer group.
I have held the following positions as a consultant: Lead for Clinical Governance, Lead for Paediatric Critical Care, Lead for Infection Control, Clinical Lead for Organ Donation, Clinical Lead for Morbidity and Mortality, Transfer Consultant for Retrieve South-West transfer service and Subject Matter Expert for Electronic Patient Record.
I have specialist interests in perioperative medicine and sepsis, where I have completed a higher degree and published peer review research and undertake enhanced perioperative care ward rounds.
I am also proficient in echocardiography (FICE), performing focused cardiac assessments in critical/intensive care settings.
My experience in end-of-life care and organ donation includes Clinical Lead for Organ Donation, DNACPR decisions and ethical considerations.
I specialise in transfer medicine, ensuring the safe inter-hospital transfer of critically ill patients, and I chair the South-West Critical Care Transfer Group.
I have extensive experience in medico-legal reporting, preparing expert witness reports on condition & prognosis, negligence, breach of duty, causation, and joint statements.
While I provide reports across all these areas, I have a particular focus on breach of duty, negligence, and causation reports.

Critical Care and Intensive Care Medicine– Management of critically unwell patients in A&E and ICU, sepsis, airway emergencies, ventilation plus acute respiratory distress syndrome, recognition of the deteriorating patient, perioperative care, major trauma, multi-organ failure and recovery from critical illness.
Anaesthesia – Anaesthesia for major surgery, perioperative assessment plus care, pain management.
Perioperative Medicine – Conducting risk assessments, optimising surgical outcomes, and leading enhanced perioperative care ward rounds.
Echocardiography (FICE) – Performing focused cardiac assessments in critical care settings.
Sepsis & Infection Control – Clinical governance, infection control, sepsis management, and inflammatory response assessments.
End-of-Life Care & Organ Donation – DNACPR decisions, ethical considerations, and organ donation management.
