Mr Nikolaos Giotakis is a fully qualified Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma surgeon, working at the Liverpool University Hospitals Foundation Trust. He has been heavily involved in Complex Trauma and Limb Reconstruction Surgery since 2004.

Subspecialty interest:
Complex Trauma and Limb Reconstruction Surgery.
Acute Trauma Practice: Management of complex limb trauma including patients with multiple injuries. Areas of special interest includes managing open fractures, complex lower limb injuries including limb threatening injuries.

Elective Orthopaedic Practice: Limb Reconstruction Surgery including: non unions (fractures that fail to heal), malunions (fractures that healed causing deformity), bone infection and implant related infections, joint contractures, post-traumatic arthritis.
Mr Giotakis regularly receives acute complex trauma and elective tertiary referrals from hospitals in Merseyside, Lancashire, Cumbria, the Isle of Man, North Wales.

He is regular faculty and chairs courses in complex fracture management in National and International events. He has published several peer- reviewed articles in Trauma and Limb Reconstruction.

Mr Giotakis is a journal reviewer and also sits on the editorial board of peer reviewed journals in the field of orthopaedic trauma and limb reconstruction. He is a former executive committee member of the British Limb reconstruction Society (BLRS).

Honorary Lecturer University of Liverpool.

He has undertaken formal training in the preparation of medico legal reporting and has been providing a large number of medical reports since 2006.

He provides reports on personal injury, including complex and serious injuries. As a result of his clinical practice dealing regularly with complications of trauma, Mr Giotakis has is very comfortable providing opinion on medical negligence cases relating to trauma management and its complications.
