I am a Consultant General Surgeon with a specialist interest in Gastrointestinal Surgery, Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Surgery, Endocrine Surgery and Hernia Surgery as well as Medical Management.

I have had a major clinical referral practice as well as being author of 9 books and over 250 peer reviewed published papers. I was Clinical Director of Surgery in Sheffield for 20 years and am also Senior Lecturer at Sheffield University.

I was a member of Council of the Royal College of Surgeons, and in the past was Senior Vice President, on the Court of Examiners and also Chairman of the Education Department.

I was President of the Surgical Section of the Royal Society of Medicine, am on the Editorial Board of several surgical journals and developed and have been responsible for the delivery of the Basic Surgical Skills Course here in the UK and internationally.
