My reports have been focused on the care of older people.
I have written reports on: falls, consequences of injury including from road traffic accidents, consequences of hospital admission, drug treatment, treatment of acute medical and surgical problems (including infections, dehydration, kidney failure), delirium (confusional states), surgical care, dementia, and life expectancy in older people.
My clinical practice (40% FTE) comprises acute geriatric medicine and acute orthogeriatrics (especially patients with hip fracture).
My academic position (Professor of Geriatric Medicine) involves research on delirium and hip fracture. I have published >200 articles and several books/book chapters. I am also Chair of the national Scottish Hip Fracture Audit.
I am able to accept instructions for desk reports across the UK. For face to face consultations, my preference is Scotland and the north of England.
