Mr Alan John Grant is a Consultant in General Surgeon, Clinical director for surgery, anaesthesia and critical care, in a busy District General hospital in the North of Scotland. He is also the clinical director for an independent sector healthcare provider.
He has a special interest in supporting services in remote and rural hospital of Scotland. He has undertaken research including, ‘Does the rural eHealth paradox apply to surgical practice in Scotland?’ for a Medical Informatics MSc thesis.
General Surgery: Remote and Rural healthcare, emergency surgery and treatment of sepsis. Hernia surgery: groin, incisional, ventral, internal, abdominal wall reconstruction.
Endoscopy: Upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, polypectomy.
Mr Grant provides, formal teaching from medical student to consultant level. Including being co-founder of the North of Scotland cadaveric trauma skills course.
He has had his research published and presented oral and poster presentations.
