Minds in Session Ltd provides independent psychological and psychiatric expert witness assessments and medico-legal reports to courts, tribunals, solicitors, barristers and local authorities across the UK.

Our multidisciplinary, multilingual team of consultant psychiatrists, HCPC-registered clinical psychologists and forensic psychologists, and accredited therapists covers criminal, family, civil and employment matters.

ADHD assessment and autism assessment (ASD) for adults, children and young people, including forensic presentations.

We are ADOS-2, ADI-R and DISCO accredited. Neurodevelopmental, neuropsychological and cognitive assessment, learning disability and intellectual functioning, mental capacity and litigation capacity, traumatic brain injury, and dementia-related assessment.

Forensic risk assessment: risk of violence, sexual offending, extremism and terrorism (TACT offences), stalking, honour-based violence, domestic violence and domestic abuse, group-based and gang-related violence, drug trafficking and county lines; personality disorder and psychopathy assessment (HCR-20, PCL-R); parole board reports and MAPPA.

Psychiatric reports: fitness to plead, fitness to stand trial, effective participation in proceedings, mental state at the time of the offence, criminal responsibility, diminished responsibility, intent and insanity, sentencing and disposal, treatability; assessments in fraud and drug trafficking proceedings; substance misuse and dual diagnosis; asylum and immigration reports.

Family law and care proceedings: parenting capacity assessment, global family assessment, psychological assessment of parents and children, domestic abuse and coercive control, attachment, child protection and safeguarding, looked-after children.

Trauma and psychological injury: PTSD, complex PTSD, racial trauma, workplace stress, bullying and harassment for Employment Tribunal, personal injury and civil claims.

Second opinion and peer review of existing psychological and psychiatric evidence.

We act as Single Joint Experts (SJE), accept legal aid instructions (LAA rates), and report to CPR Part 35, FPR Part 25 and CrimPR Part 19 standards. Typical turnaround 4-6 weeks; urgent instructions accommodated.
